Athletes and Weight Loss by Paul Gains

Rating: **

This acticle talks about the importance of conserving some body fat, as a total lack of body fat is a hazard to your health, or in the other sense of having too much body fat.

Dr. Ross associate professor at Queen's University’s School of Physical and Health Education, and a member of the Canadian Society of Exercise Physiologists, is doing research on the effect that the loss of body fat has on athletes or more specificly long distance runners (marathon or ultramarathon). After many tests and surveys, he has found that when your body fat is low it endangers your immune system and has implications for reproduction for both men and woman.

I would suggest this article to anyone who might think they are over weight, when they probably have normal and healthy body fat levels or people that are doing high intensity training.
