This article explains how to build a survival shelter in a couple to hours with the proper materials and stay warm and dry throughout the night.

This article explains how to build a survival shelter called the debris hut. They are a pretty easy shelter to build and they stay warm and dry through the night when build correctly. It explains that choosing your location is a very important step in the process of building your shelter. You want to avoid low spots, and standing dead trees. To build the shelter you want to choose a main pole that is approximately as tall as you with your arm above your head and you need to find something to rest it on approximately at hip height.  After that you want to add sticks on either side of the main pole ensuring they are close enough together that anything you place on them don't fall through. You'll then want to add lattice to the outside so that debris sticks to the outside. Having the proper insulation is an extremely important part of the shelter. You want to chose material that can trap air, and you want it as dry as possible. You want to pile at least two feet of debris to ensure you stay dry if it rains.

This article makes me want to try building one of these kinda of shelters. I'm not sure how much I would enjoy it as there would be leaves and sticks and especially bugs all throughout the shelter. I would definitely try it just for the experience, and who knows maybe I could surprise myself and love it.
