The aritcle Playing for Keeps in Black Bear Country by Heather Burke provides valuable tips and information on avoiding black bears while hiking, camping and what to do if you were to encounter a black bear while camping. Bears are often threatening but misjudged. Some bears such as black bears are more scared of us then we are of them. If you make your presence known they will often avoid you unless they are hungry.
This article barely affected me as I have no current fear of wildlife and I have not encountered a black bear yet in my life.
