TED talk - Gever Tulley: 5 dangerous things you should let your kids do

Rating: ****

This TED talk caught my attention because its title implies that we should be breaking rules that parents have established and followed through on for a long time.

Trying to convince a mother to let her children do dangerous things is almost impossible. But Gever Tulley justifys why letting your children do dangerous things is a good thing. His first point tells parents to allow their children to play with fire. His second point is for children to own a pocket knife. His third point is for kids to throw a spear. His forth point is to deconstruct appliances. His fifth point is for children to break the DMCA. His final point is to have you child drive a car.

Gever Tulley makes very true and relivant points that most parents are just to scared to let their kids do. He justifys that having them do all these things will teaching them basic essential rules, advance some of their brain functions and will give their kids a sense of empowerment. This makes me think into the future when I have kids, who doesn't want their children to learn basic simple rules? For anyone that is planning of having children in the future should look at this and will hopefully change the way they want their kids to grow up.
