Outdoor Navigation

Rating: **

This article gives a brief explanation on essential hiking navagational skills.

Hiking can result in getting lost or ending up in a dangerous situation, to prevent that, you want to be able to know where you are and where you are going at all times. You should always carry a map and a compass. These two combined will be able to get you to where you want safely if you know how to use it. You can also bring a GPS which can easily get you out of anywhere, except it may run out of batteries or become damaged. Another great way to find out where you are is determining your altitude and from there you may be able to pin point where to go. The more you know about navigation the better off you are and the more likely you'll come back safe!

Even if you think you know where you are going its best to still carry the essentials because you never know if you may have to cut through somewhere because of an unsafe obstacle (bear, fire..etc) This article will make me think twice before i go out into the wilderness because its always better to be prepared!
