Rock and Rails by Christie McLaren

This article talks about the creation of the Canadian Pacific Railway. The Railway was created to mainly join British Columbia with Eastern Canada. The creation of the railway has allowed us to discover new things both during the creation process and after its creation. One of these discoveries include the sulphur hot springs in Banff. these all lead to the creation of national parks throughout Canada. In the 1880's during the "rush to complete the CPR" the government tried to make the trains go down a steep hill but it caused problems with the trains. Instead of this idea they decided to start making tunnels that would go through the hill. This new plan also led to the discovery of a huge deposit of fossils that have helped scientists have a better understanding of evolution.
