This sad article is about a Sarah Burke, a 29 year old freestyle skier, who helped get superpipe accepted into the Olympics and she passed away today after a Jan. 10th crash during a training run in Park City, Utah.
Test showed that Sarah sustained irreversible damage to her brain due to lack of oxygen and blood after cardiac arrest. Sarah was a four time winter X games champion. On January 10th Sarah crashed on the same half pipe where snow border Kevin Pearce sustained a traumatic brain injury. After Sarah passed away her organs and tissues were donated as per her wish. Everyone said she was one of the kindest people that they knew and it was sad to see someone like her die so yong. Sarah had pushed for this ski event to be part of the next Olympic games and unfortunately she will not be there to participate in the event and would have represented Canada well. The next winter games are being held next week in Aspen Colorado without one of its biggest stars. Sarah's death also re-ignites the debate over safety on the half pipe.
Overall this article has taught me that you need to be careful with whatever you do because even an experienced person can get hurt. I recommend this article to everyone because it is about a Canadian athlete who we should all be proud of and Canada has lost a great competitor.
