Five Reasons to Plant Trees Now by Christine Patton
Rating - **
Everyone always hears "plant
a tree" to "save the environment" – but many people,
especially Canadians, don't see the need for more trees; because they
seem to be everywhere. This is not the case, and this article
discusses five [of the] reasons why we need to plant more trees.
These reasons are: trees will be needed for fuel, they provide food,
they can provide income, they relieve the effects of severe weather,
and they make an area more liveable.
Though the idea and the
intentions of this article are great, I think that they missed some
important points. Not that I would encourage scaring people; but when
it comes to persuading people to do something, they are probably more
likely to do it if you tell them why it's bad not
to do it, rather than just why it's good to do it. I was drawn to
this article because of the title, but I was disappointed with the
content.
