For a high speed rush on skis, go fly a kite (Article #2)
For a high speed rush on skis, go fly a kite - Dave Brown

This article explains the great fun you can have by putting two activities together to create kite skiing.
Kite skiing is a sport that has been around in North America for around 25 years. It involves going to an open area and using the wind to pull you along. While the concept is pretty simple it can be dangerous to inexperienced people, which is why it's a good idea to get instruction by someone who knows what they are doing. Once the basics are down you can be barreling along at speeds up to 80km/h, and it's even possible to do jumps and tricks. The adrenaline rush is huge! As far as equipment goes, a good kite will cost around 800$ and it's always a good idea to wear a helmet.
This sounds like an awesome sport and I'd love to try it sometime myself. I love skiing and going fast, and this is a great way to combine both. If there's one thing that would stop me from doing it, it's the fear of being swept away with the kite. it doesn't seem like you have much control over it. I also like the fact that you don't have to travel far to do it. What a great way to use the Ottawa river during the winter!
I'm surprised more people don't do this sport, it seems like an amazing way to get a rush of adrenaline on a otherwise boring winter afternoon.
