Place of Wonder Sea Kayaking in British Columbia's Queen Charlotte Islands
Place of Wonder
Sea Kayaking in British Columbia's Queen Charlotte Islands
Rating ***
The Queen Charlotte Islands are located off the coast of British Columbia. It would be a nice visit in the spring since the weather and the wildlife is nicer at that time of year.
An experienced kayaker and a good navigator is encouraged since there are not many visitors to the park. If something goes wrong, you won't have many passersby to come to the rescue. You must register your trip and let the coast guards know when you will be returning. There are other opportunities for beginner kayaker to go out and explore the park.
There are many options to explore and how you want to tour the park. You can take a kayak expedition where you are dropped off and picked up a few days later. Also, there are many sea birds that breed on the islands and marine and wildlife are plentiful.
Some of the Haida people still volunteer and camp out at locations throughout the park. You can see mortuary poles carved of solid cedar and totem poles in their original spots.
I think a visit to the park would be an exciting and fun camping trip and it would be great to see some of the wildlife they have in British Columbia.
