****
With a complete guid and many helpful links to other useful information, Geoff Irons writes one of the best guides to camping and having fun in winter. With everything from pre-trip planning tips to instructions on how to build different types of shelters in the snow,  this article is a must read for anyone planning on heading out this winter.

In this article you will find the basics such as pre-trip planning guide, cold-weather clothing tips, and suggested winter gear list. There is also types of winter backcountry travel, safety tips, and how shelter making instructions for those planning larger trips. In summary everything you could ever want to know is in or linked to in this web article.

Having both winter camps coming up, this article affected me by giving me a nice reminder of all the things I should know for these trips. For this reason I thought that this article was very helpful and also very extensive in the topics that it covers. One of these topics was health concerns in cold weather where I learn’t the symptoms of hypothermia (shivering, slurred speech, non-communication, lethargy) amongst other things. Reading through this report has done two things to me, made me more aware of all the precautions that I should be taking into consideration before going on trips, and just how excited I am to go out there in the snow and explore.
