New ODE Resource: The App Store

With more than 224 mobile applications being uploaded to the app store every day, and people creativity for applications going through the roof, it is now easier than ever to set up your mobile device into an all-in-one outdoors resource.

Even if it is a bit counter productive to try to get away from technology and bring your phone, sometimes its nice to know if that plant is edible or if there is a meteor shower coming up. But it doesn’t just stop there, people are using these mobile devices to help get kids addictive to technology outdoors, from apps like Geocashing, to online games that require you to go out and find birds and plants, to applications that track how much and where you’ve skied over the past season. Technology is the future, but it is important not to leave nature in the dust, and The App Store is a wonderful way to mix them both.
