Polar Bear Dip at Britannia - A New Year’s Treat
By: Leslie Foster

Rating: ****

Polar Bear Dip at Britannia is an article to inform people of a charity event that raises money for children’s cancer. It gets the reader’s attention because it’s an interesting event for a great cause.

The magazine article “Polar Bear Dip at Britannia - A New Year’s Treat” talks about an event that takes place here in Ottawa to raise money for children’s cancer. This event is held on New Year’s day in the Ottawa River at Britannia Beach. Participants collect donations for the cause and then must plunge into the icy river to raise awareness for children’s cancer. This event raises money for 17 Canadian children’s oncology centers. This is a great way to raise money for a good cause.

This is a great article because it makes readers more aware of children’s cancer. I enjoyed reading this because it’s not your average fundraiser. This fundraiser challenges people to feel pain like the cancer patients do every day. I find this is an awesome way to raise money for such a great cause. I think that if children have to go through horrible diseases such as cancer, then people should be willing to jump into some freezing water and feel some pain for a few minutes in order to support these children.
