    This article is about a Hiking trip that took a terrible turn. As the father of five young kids, David Decareaux an experienced hiker and Air force Veteran lost his life amongst two of own his own children on a hiking trip in Reynold’s County in order to surprise his wife for their 14 anniversary.

    As David had planned his day accordingly, all did not go to plan as conditions on their trails started to change. The temperature dropped from 60 degrees to the 20’s as a low pressure system started to move in bringing heavy rain making it impossible to navigate. The young boys were only clothed in a light sweater as the father in a light jacket. Three hours into their journey a passer-by spotted them and offered them help back to their cabin but as David persevered and refused his help he was determined to make it back. Unfortunately the poor weather on the trail made it hard for David and his two sons to make it home as they couldn’t find their way. In result the father and sons died from exposer to the elements and had died two hours later as they were rushed to the hospital.

   This article has me think about the unexpected changes in the outdoors. Also of the risk and danger that can quickly contribute to an accident. It has made me consider the importance of a well prepared and planned trip. Yet, some actions of the father are questionable which leads me to think of crises management and knowing who to stabilize a situations and solve the problem. It is about knowing when to get help and where and how to get it?

   This article is yet tragic but gets one thinking of the different dangers in the outdoors such as different elements, weather change, injuries, and more.
