Girl, 10, killed by falling branch while sleeping in tent on family camping trip during a storm- Lydia Warren

****

This Article is a sad read, describing the heartbreaking death of a 10 year old girl, who died by having a tree fall on her during her sleep on a campground.

Allison Spahr, an outgoing, adventurous 10 year old girl had urged her father and brother to stay the night on a camp ground. Despite the impending bad weather, the family decided to stay the night and set up their tent under a couple of large trees. Just before 4 am, Allison's father awoke to the sound of cracking branches, and before he could react, his legs were pinned by a large tree branch that had fallen on the tent. The son was able to escape, and the father was brought to hospital after being freed by firefighters. Sadly, the large tree branch had landed right on Allison's chest, essentially, stopping her breathing and she died within a couple of minutes.

Although this article was tragic, it provided good insight to how the family is dealing with the loss, and it also provided many tips on how to set up tents safely when camping, especially in bad weather, in order to minimize accident potential.

Overall this was a very sad article, but I do still recommend it to anyone.
