Hot Dogs and Poutine

Obesity is nearing the number one cause of death in North America. In this article the author states an interesting argument against  obesity, by encouraging the practice of regular canoeing excursions. When I saw the title of Hot Dogs and Poutine I was immediately intrigued as I would not expect a subject as such to appear in a magazine related to camping and outdoor fitness. To my surprise the article tells of how canoeing is a beneficial activity and if you have no partner a dog is an ample replacement. So if you have no friends and wish to go canoeing and do not wish to go alone, a dog is a definitely good choice to have in mind.

The article gives ample argument stating that obesity is a pandemic and that regular exercise is possible with canoeing. It talks about why having a dog with you while canoeing is a worthwhile decision, and that National Canoeing day is an event we should all take part in.

I would suggest this article to friends and family who are health conscious and are interested in outdoor activities, Furthermore, I would also use this article to raise awareness about obesity in Canada and how to prevent it. I would also send this to my friends who have dogs and encourage them to go out canoeing with their animal companions to maintain proper fitness.
