Ted Talks- Medical Miracle on Everest
*****

Climbing Mount Everest is a very difficult and dangerous journey, but could also be a very rewarding and amazing experience.

In this Ted Talks, a doctor named Ken Kamler describes his experience on Everest. Dr. Kamler went on an Everest expedition with approximately 18 climbers and 2 other medical workers. On Everest, the climbers set up camp five times throughout the climb. Dr. Kamler climbed only to camp three and helped climbers who were coming down from the summit. During his talk, he also describes one climber’s near death experience. This climber had fallen in the snow when a big wind storm hit the summit. He was reported dead but instead was laying there fully alive, completely unable to move, with severe frostbite and hypothermia. The climber layed there for one night and two days. After the end of the second day he got the power to get up and return down to camp number three where Dr Ken Kamler was staying. The climber was frostbitten on the hand and parts of his face. He amazingly survived. Sadly five climbers passed away during this expedition due to the windstorm.

This Ted Talks has taught me a lot about about climbing and the dangers and scary events that can happen on Mount Everest. It has made me think about the climber who had changed his mindset and succeeded to climb the rest of the way down; it is a very inspiring  story. This Ted Talks has made me think more about the dangers and taking extra precaution if I ever decide to go mountain climbing. I think it would be an amazing experience to do this one day and this Ted Talks has definitely inspired me to do so.
