Beware the Bus Eater - Ron Johnson

Rating ***

This is an article that gives details about Canada's, and even the world's, greatest freestyle kayaking hotspot; The Greyhound Bus Eater, located in the Ottawa River. People gather from around the world to paddle on this 14 foot monster of a wave that could send a kayaker 150 feet downriver in the blink of an eye. It also details the biannual Freestyle Kayaking World Championships which take place on the Bus Eater. Entrants from as many as 50 countries, as far away as Peru and Chile, participate in the events which span 5 days of pure extreme paddling on the Bus Eater. The wave is beloved by all who ride it, as it provides ample doses of adrenaline, airtime and power. Eric Jackson of Sparta, Tennessee states that you could find smoother waves elsewhere, but none that match the sheer power of the Bus Eater.
