Proper Snacking by Samantha Liepner

Rating: ****
This article is about snacking properly before, during and after excercise. Beforehand, you should eat foods that are low in fat and have a moderate level of protein and carbohydrates, such as trail mix or a bagel with peanut butter. This kind of snacking has been proved toimprove performance.
During exercise, you should snack on carbohydrates because they are the enerdy the most easily absorbed by the body. Pretzels or carrots, for example, would be a good choice.
After exercise, your body needs to replenish itself, the best thing being protein. Eat a certain amount of food depending on the level of exercise, don't overeat. Examples of a good snack would be a hard boiled egg or yogurt with berries.
I enjoyed this article because I personally do a lot of physical activity and are not always sure what I should eat around those time periods. This article has helped me determine that and will use some of the examples the next time I exercise.
