Breathing easier by Mark Schatzker

rating ***

This article talks about an expidition that Dr. Joseph Fisher takes up on a bolivian mountainside. They were 19,000 ft up the mountain when everything went terribly wrong. One of his fellow doctors started suffering from High Alltitude Pulmonary Edema (HAPE) and High Allitude Cerebral Edema (HACE). The doctor did have much longer to live with little oxygen but luckily Dr. Fisher had a experimantal prototype of an oxygen mask that delivers more concentrated amount of oxygen. This did infact save his life.

This article made me enjoy the new innovations in our modern world now a days and how our techonology is also saving lifes. It really shows that even on high mountain tops work that we do at sea level safes lives. Dr. Fisher will continue working on and improving his mask to save future lives.
