Want Fires With That?

Last year the amount of bookings for guided kayak tours across Canada declined by almost 50% in some areas. Due to the economic slowdown may people found that they had better uses for their money then going on a guided tour, but what does this mean for the guides? Well, a lot of guides are having to trade in their paddles for something more practical. Former guides are now out looking for “real jobs”, taking anything that they can find. From forestry workers to computer programmers, most of them have had to stop doing the things they love. However it’s not all bad as one former guide says now he can spend more time with his family and actually have money in the bank.
