Lost in the Gatineaus - Tony Gariano

Rating ****

This is a very intersting article. Its an easy read and it grabs your attention right away. This article is for anyone who enjoys hiking or venturing out imto the wilderness. Lost in the Gatineaus is about a man named Tony and his two friends, Heather and Monique, that have been hiking on the Eardley Escarpment for the past 5 years. They decided to go for a 3 hour hike on one of the paths the athour has traveled on before. After taking a wrong turn on to an unmarked path, the 3 hour hike turned into a 36 hour hike and fight for survival after they got themselvs lost. Tony manages to locate some cell phone service and was able to contact family members and a rescue team. The trio suffered from injury and bug bited before getting rescued. From this article, the athour teaches you how to deal with being lost while hiking and to not continue walking on when lost but to turn around and retrace you steps. The authour provides a detailed check list on what you should and shouldnt bring on a hiking trip so you have enough food, water, clothing and gear incase you get lost. Tony's article helped me realise that there are many dangers of hiking in the wilderness and that if I were to go on a hike I should be prepared for anything.
