Survival is More a
State of Mind then it is Equipment
Rating ***
This story is about a man who went on a three week solo
survival challenge. He used to hunt with his father so he knew his way around a
forest. He packed only the necessities but survives better than some of the
others who backed twice as much as him. He ends up catching food and relaxing up
to the day he is rescued.
This story has taught me that no matter how much equipment
you bring on a trip, if you don’t know how to use it, it’s useless. Also, that
you could do the same things with different, smaller equipment. Finally, that
you have to use your head and figure out solutions to problems or issues. This
article has made me think about all of the stuff that I bring on our outdoor education
trips and that half of it could be left at home.
