Kayaking the Rideau Canal

This Ottawa Citizen newspaper article is a great guide for planning a trip along the Rideau Canal.

The author talks about his trip along the canal and some great things about it. He discusses the route he took and some of the history of the canal that makes it so interesting. He talks about how even though he was boating right next to 90 foot cabin cruisers, he still had a great time and would recommend it to anyone. He makes the whole experience sound very peaceful and calming and was one of his favourite trips, even for someone who has done week long trips on the lakes of northern Quebec and Ontario.

I find this article to be extremely helpful when it comes to planning a trip along the canal. The author includes all of the important factors when it comes to planning a trip such as cost and facilities. He gives helpful tips about navigating the locks which can be challenging to someone whos never done it before. Mr Homes-Douglas also gives pros as to why this is a great trip to choose. With stunning scenery and the option to get a big hearty meal at any time, he proves that it is a trip worth taking.

For anyone interested in a kayak trip along the Rideau Canal I would highly recommend that they read this.
