My close call the night of the wolves, Bruce Watts

rating:**** Bruce Watts came very close to a wolf attack, while taking some time off from his home life in Algonquin park. In this article, he tells us how it happened, and what he was feeling. There's nothing better than taking some time off your home life, and having some alone time. But this isn't the way Bruce thought he's spend his night. After setting up camp, and settling down, he layed in his tent and began to read. Just like any other camping trip, he heard wolves. Except he had never heard them quite this close before. As a pack of them came scrambling by, he thought his life was over.. But suddenly, it was quiet again. Never had he been so terrified in his life. But knowing they'd most likely be more scared of him that he was of them, it gave him a little comfort. This article made me realize that wolves can come very close to you in the wilderness, but that they are more afraid of you than you are of them. Although this doesn't mean you shouldn't take precautions around them, they are usually harmless. Bruce showed the readers that keeping calm and not panicking is the proper way to deal with the situation. Bruce Watts, Ottawa outdoors p.18, www.ottawaoutdoors.ca
