Footwear For Canoeing - What To Wear And When
Laurie March
Rated ****

I'm sure that all of us have often wondered what the best form of footwear would be to wear in a canoe, so I decided to find this article and discover for myself what footwear options there were for canoeing. Laurie March explains her preferences for shoes while paddling in this article.

When paddling from late May until early October, sturdy sandals with solid straps and soles are a very good choice. Quality brands for sandals are also a much better idea than the off-brand ones, because they are more comfortable and will last multiple seasons. Aqua socks, which are form fitting rubber soled wetsuit material socks, are another good choice, but not as well suited for portaging. Hiking boots are very important to bring as well, because portaging in sandals can prove to be very hard on the toes, and they also provide extra warmth where it is necessary.

I found this article to be very helpful and interesting because it gave me some good ideas about what to wear when I paddle. It would recommend the article to a novice paddler who is just learning the sport and not quite sure about what equipment would be best.
