Leave No Trace-The Wilderness Society

Rating: ****

This is a short yet important article on the principals of Leave No Trace. The information given is to the point and firmly gets the point across.

This article briefly explains the importance of following the standards of leave no trace. It states that by following these reasonable standards we will be able to preserve the great outdoors while still being able to take advantage of the many opportunities we have to explore. By maintaining a solid equilibrium of entering the woods while still properly cleaning up after ourselves we will be helping the surrounding environment as well as benefiting ourselves by ensuring that we are properly taking care of the wild so that we are able to return.

The article also provides us with tips on how to ensure that we are following the proper protocol of leaving no trace. Tips such as repacking food to reduce waste, washing dishes by carrying water 200 feet away from streams or lakes and to only use small amounts of biodegradable soap.

I recommend this article to anyone who may be planning on going on a trip anywhere in the wilderness. Whether it is for a camping trip or even a road trip, it is always important to have these principles in mind so that we are always reducing the waste we leave that will harm the environment.
