Many people ride their
bikes without the helmets, but I don’t because it’s too dangerous.
On a Sunday before 7
p.m. the father got a call that his son was in an accident and they called for
an ambulance. The father went to the scene of the accident. His son was on the ground in a pool of
blood. Luckily the drives stayed at the
scene, covered him with a blanket and called 911. The son’s bicycle helmet was cracked in every
vent and the driver’s vehicle was damaged.
The son had been going approx. 40 km/h when he collided with the
truck. Lucky he was wearing his helmet
because the doctor said it would be a fatality. Alex is to recover and get a
new bike.
We all need to remember
when approaching any intersection to slow down, even if you have the right of
way. It’s also a good idea to let,
someone know your route, to have identification and a cell phone with you. It has affected me because when I go biking I
take ricks and this guy almost died. So, I am going to try to be more careful
from now on when I go biking.
Keen, Gord. Thinking of
not wearing your helmet? Think again. A father’s story, Ottawa Outdoors.
