This article gives many insightful ways to help prevent getting lost while out camping, and tips to help with reading a map. These tips include things like always planning ahead and making sure you tell someone where you plan on going. Other tips include constantly checking behind you to make sure you can recognise the way back, stopping if you ever feel even slightly lost, and try to always stay with your group. This article also includes tips for when you already are lost, such as how to use the sun or moon to tell time, how to tell directions using only a map and no compass, or how to find directions using the stars. The article gives further tips for things such as staying in a straight line by using things such as landmarks and the sky.

Overall I found this article useful and somewhat interesting. It’s tips could prove helpful any time you find yourself in the wilderness, whether it be a planned camping trip or being stranded for some reason. Some of these tips are things I never would have thought of while i was out like keeping sounds in the same direction for a time to help you keep going straight and regularly looking behind you so you can more easily find your way back.

I recommend this article to anyone who does not already regularly do outdoor activities and anyone who plans on starting to do more of these things.
