The nicknames say it all, this mushroom found on birch trees is reported to have the highest level of anti-oxidants of any food in the world, and can be found in your backyard.

Chaga is a hard mushroom similar in texture and look to burnt wood, can be found on birch trees in northern climates. Chaga contains numerous active constituents including amino acids, beta glucans, betulinic acid, calcium, an many more. Chaga,in a way, contains the life force of trees,it concentrates this power. One compound found in chaga, betulinic acid even has potent anti-tumor activity.Some other medicinal properties include anti-HIV,antibacterial,anti inflammatory, along with many more. Now you're probably asking yourself how you can consume it? The most common is making a tea out of it. To prepare chaga tea, break a piece off about the size of your palm, put it in a pot with about a litre of water and boil it until the water turns brownish, you can leave it in longer of you want it to be stronger. Chaga tea is quite delicous and has vanilla, maple syrup taste.

This article has furthered my knowledge on chaga and its benefits and effects. It has made me think about drinking chaga more often(we drink it at our house)and how it benefits me in many ways. This has also inspired me to go look for chaga in the wilderness near my house. This article made me want to drink chaga more often.
