Will Gadd Conquers Niagara - John Gugala

Rating: *****

“Will Gadd Conquers Niagara” is a fantastic article containing a very thorough interview with Will Gadd about one of his largest accomplishments to date - climbing a frozen Niagara Falls.

In this article Will Gadd, one of the world’s most famous ice climbers, discusses his most recent achievement of climbing a frozen section of Niagara Falls on January 30th, 2015. It contains a very thorough interview with Gadd, comparing recent climbs to this one, the risks involved, the pressures and spotlight that is placed upon Gadd, and what some of his future endeavours may look like. He explains how scaling such an iconic frozen landmark is definitely one of those “cool places and moments in life.”.

This article has affected me largely in a matter close to my family. An uncle of mine is also an ice climber/mountain climber. He has already conquered some of Canada’s largest mountains. Mt. Kilimanjaro, and is training to conquer Mt. Everest. It makes me think and perceive the idea that he may end up doing something as crazy and risky as scaling a frozen Niagara Falls. I learned what it looks like to be looking from the inside out, rather than the outside in. He explains all the pressures that are placed upon him, the pressures us, the public, put on him. It was interesting to see his point of view on how the climb went. It has inspired me to take on greater risks in life, and to always do my best to achieve my goals no matter what may slow me down. I would recommend this article to anyone.
