The article I read was on why winter is a great time to exercise outside. Now don’t get me wrong exercising outside is great during all the seasons but people don’t do it as much during winter for the conditions they face. Most people would way rather go inside or go to the gym to exercise their bodies during the winter. Most people want to stay out of the cold but the truth is if you stay outside and exercise out there you will actually enjoy yourself. For example the article speaks about exposure to sunlight will decrease your chance of have SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder). This disorder is a type of depression that occurs when seasons change. Most people dislike winter the most for it’s cold weather so SAD occurs more during the winter. As well, a recent study from the University of Tampere in Finland found that exercising outside in the winter will allow you to sleep better, and have an overall better emotional state then if you were to exercise inside. The article states that as long as you wear appropriate winter clothing, and don’t have any medical condition that could lead to injury. You should have a great time outside whether it’s walking your dog, skiing, hockey, or whatever exercise you wish to do. So don’t let the cold get to you, go outside and enjoy yourself.
